their long-awaited hearings on the controversy surrounding the attack on the u.s. consulate in benghazi, libya. they are hoping to finally sort out what happened, why there wasn't enough security, who knew about the terrorist ties and whether they knew about that. president obama took on some of those controversies in a wide- ranging press conference yesterday. republicans have been furious about what they see as a changing time line from the white house. ambassador chris stevens and three other americans were coiled trying to defend the post in that ambush. they say u.s. ambassador susan rice gave inaccurate information during her appearances on five sunday talk shows the week after the attack blaming the tax on a video that insulted the prophet mohammed. critics say it was deliberately misleading and they vow to block her nomination should she be nominated as u.s. secretary of state. rice was defended by the president yesterday. >> but for them to go after the u.n. ambassador who had nothing to do with benghazi and was simply mechanicking a presentation based on intelligence that she

for bank fraud charges back in june. fox 5's melanie alnwick is live at the u.s. district court this morning with a look at what brown is facing. >> reporter: good morning. brown is facing perhaps a jail term but we'll see. his original plea agreement where he admitted guilty to all of those charms called identify six-month jail sentence but right now, prosecutors seem to be softening somewhat recommending to the judge just six days in jail for kwame brown and three years of supervised probation. it was really just a high profile fall from grace. brown held the district's second highest local elected office before pleading guilty in june to providing false information on bank loan applications. one of the loans was for a 39- foot, 330-horsepower boat. brown also forged the signature of a friend on an application and doctored two forms to overstate his income by tens of thousands of dollars. another case involved an audit by d.c.'s office of campaign finance and that found that brown's 2008 election campaign failed to report more than $400,000 in contributions and expenditures an
